Banshkhali 660 MW (Beximco) Coal Power Plant

Current Status: Shelved

The Banshkhali Coal Power Plant was proposed by Beximco Power Company Limited (BPCL) in March 2012 for generating 1320 MW electricity. Later the plan had been changed to establish a 600 MW power plant with a derated capacity of 540 MW. The power plant seems to be Shelved as it is not mentioned in the Revisiting Power Sector Master Plan (PSMP 2018) [1]. It is likely to be cancelled now as the State Minister for the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources (MOEFCC) sated that ministry had finalized an energy plan that cancelled all coal plants except five which are under construction or in operation now [2].
